An Android app which uses data from OpenStreetMap to display a compass pointing toward the nearest trash can, as well as a map showing nearby ones and allowing users to track any missing trash cans.

The goal of this app is to reduce the amount of trash that ends up on streets, by providing a quick way to find the nearest option to dispose of it properly.

Building it on OpenStreetMap meant never having to maintain a database of bin locations - the data is already there, contributed by mappers all over the world, and it reaches far more places than I could have surveyed myself. The app's translations come from the community too, through Crowdin.
